The US embassy released a statement on 16 July 2016 stating, 'Be advised that local authorities are denying movements on to and off of Incirlik Air Base. The power there has also been cut. Please avoid the air base until normal operations have been restored.' This follows a statement by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim saying, that his country considers itself at war with any nation that stands by the US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen who is currently lives in Pennsylvania and is the man Turkey blames for the coup.
